AUTHOR
His Eminence, Metropolitan of Antinoes Panteleimon (in civil life George P. Lampadarios), was born on the 14th May, 1955. His parents, Pantelis Lampadarios and Kalliope (born Zaires), immigrated to the United States of America in 1958. In 1966, he received the U.S. citizenship.
In September, 1968, he returned to the island of Kalymnos, were he attended High School. In 1974 he entered the Rizareios Seminar. Completing his ecclesiastical studies, he was accepted as a Monk in the Holy Monastery of St. Panteleimon, Kalymnos.
In 1980 he was ordained Deacon and in 1983 he was elevated to the second rank of Priesthood, that of Presbyter. In 1987 he joined the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa. In 1999, he was consecrated to the rank of Bishop of the Holy Diocese of Ghana (West Africa), where he worked in the Orthodox Missonany till 2004. Then he was elevated to Metropolitan of the Holy Metropolis of Port Said, Egypt. In 2006, for health reasons, he retired and received the honory title of Metropolitan of Antinoes.
Metropolitan Panteleimon holds a Degree of Theology from the Kapodistrian University of Athens, a Master degree in Classical Greek from the Rand Afrikaans University of South Africa and a Certificate of Computer Science.
He is the author of many theological books written in Greek, English and Arabic. He is an artist of Byzantine paintings and has restored many old icons.
Today, Metropolitan Panteleimon is resigning in Kalymnos, Greece.
