The Crucifixion of Christ is the final stage of the Holy Passions of Christ and is celebrated on Good Friday. The soldiers, after flogging Him, dressed Him in a red cloak, as a royal garment, braided a crown of thorns and wore it as a crown on His head, while in His hand they gave Him a rod, instead of a royal scepter. After making fun of Him, they started beating Him. They loaded Him with a heavy cross to carry to the place of crucifixion, which was called Golgotha. There, He was crucified along with two other robbers. As they continued to mock Him and walk around Him, He begged His Father for their forgiveness. Asking for water, He received vinegar while at the same time they took His clothes and put them in a lot. Finally He bowed his head and surrendered His spirit into the hands of His Father. He unhesitatingly accepted His killing, thus contributing to the completion of the divine order and giving life to humanity.
