The Resurrection of Lazarus is one of the most famous miracles that Christ performed a few days before His Holy Passions. Lazarus was His friend, in whose house He had been lodged many times during His presence in Bethany. When Lazarus became seriously ill, his sisters Martha and Mary hurried to inform Jesus about his visitation. The Lord, who was then in Galilee, deliberately delayed until Lazarus died. When he arrived in Bethany he comforted his sisters, as he had been dead for four days, and asked to see his grave. When he reached the monument, he ordered the tombstone to be removed, raised his eyes to heaven and in a loud voice told Lazarus to come out. Immediately, Lazarus came out wrapped in the shroud, in front of the crowd that was watching in amazement. Jesus asked for his savannah to be untied and said that he could go home. This fact reveals the dual nature of the Lord, divine and human, and foretells His impending Resurrection.
